Re “Banks Taketh, but Don’t Giveth” (Op-Ed, Jan. 28):
Delia Ephron is right: with banks, it’s their way or the highway.
Called my Chase bank and was greeted with a voice saying, “This call will be recorded.” My defensive response was, “I will record this conversation.” On three different occasions I was told, “If you record this call, we cannot talk to you.” Another of the bank’s one-way streets.

Forgive me for dwelling in the past, but I fondly recall those long-ago days when banks implored us to open a savings account for $25 and rewarded us with a toaster . . . and an interest rate of 5 percent!
O.K., so I’m giving away my age. Still.
