We finally got some cold weather in North Texas! It was a long, hot summer, and even the fall has been warm. So far this month, we've had temperatures of 83, 83, and 80 degrees. It makes for good bicycling, but is far too warm for running (though I do it anyway). The Dallas White Rock Marathon was run yesterday, when the high temperature was 67 degrees. It was also very humid. I'm glad I wasn't running. I was blessed with good weather during my 11 marathons (from 1996 to 2003). The temperature right now, at my Fort Worth house, is 44 degrees. It was 34 when I woke up, and there was thick frost on the roofs, cars, and grass. Shelbie enjoyed our long walk into the meadow. (I call it a walk, but she is off the leash for most of it, and thus running about searching for rabbits, squirrels, and other critters.) Later today, when my grading is done, I will either run or take a vigorous 4.3-mile walk, listening to music. The sky is clear and it looks beautiful outside. Can you tell I'm procrastinating? Back to the exams!
