To the Editor:
“No Time to Think,” by Kate Murphy (news analysis, Sunday Review, July 27), has to be one of the saddest articles I have read. As Socrates said, “The unexamined life is not worth living.”
The richness of inner life, in all its subtleties, textures and mysteries, is there to be discovered and savored, celebrated and respected, in all its manifestations. It is the ultimate adventure.
How disheartening to find that people will go to such ends to avoid knowing themselves. The repercussions are profound.

Note from KBJ: The editorial board of the New York Times has just come out in favor of legalizing marijuana. We have become a society of deadheads. People who smoke pot to escape the rigors of life are going to love death.
